Training Holidays

Exceptional training in exceptional country. An amazing chance to get away training in the beautiful upper Eden Valley in the old county of Westmorland, Cumbria.

HectorKirk Gundogs & Sporting have teamed up with The Inn at Brough to provide a base for our simulated game dummy training days.  This is a AA 5 Star rated hotel with a large secure car park and very friendly, willing to please staff that cannot do enough for you.  Great food and lovely airy rooms.

We have access to some 4500 acres of stunning countryside in the North Pennines in Cumbria. Exciting training terrain, including dry stone walls, ancient woodland, steep sided valleys, becks, wild moorland, double fences and young plantations too,  The ground is extremely challenging.

Simulated Days

These consist of teams of 6 – 8 handlers per day and run over two – three days training.  Limited to 8 handlers per group session, however you may bring and train multiple dogs.

We can provide top U.K trainers on these days for an additional fee.  I have many contacts which I have built a solid, loyal relationship with over the years which make me able to tailor make a day to suit your individual requirements.

Dogs must understand basic commands to benefit from this holiday, a good novice to open standards, this is not aimed at the very young / inexperienced dogs.

Dogs are to stay in owners transport overnight in the secure carpark at the hotel, there is no separate kennelling facilities.

The simulated training is aimed at working towards working tests and field trials.  We will use bumper boys, starting pistols and throw canvas dummies.

The local accommodation we recommend, is a beautiful AA 5 Star rated 18th century coaching inn, located in the upper Eden valley, just off the A66.  HKG Sporting has built up a great relationship with the owners and staff and are thrilled to be working with each other to provide an excellent all-round experience for your day.
